Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) at Victoria Medical Park DeLand
What is an MRI?
MRI is a non-invasive, non-radiation imaging technique used to visualize the structure and function of the body, relying on a powerful magnetic field to produce detailed images of the body in any plane. An MRI is able to produce high-quality images of bones, soft tissues, and hard tissues primarily of the brain, spine and joints. Patients with a herniated disc, spinal cord compression, suspected brain tumors, malignancies, suspected vessel blockage in the brain and neck, sports injuries, and joint difficulties can all benefit from MRI technology.
Cutting Edge MRI Technology
Victoria Medical Park DeLand is home to GE Healthcare's DiscoveryTM MR750 MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) system. The Discovery MR750 offers substantial benefits for patients at Victoria Imaging in need of an MRI, including:
- Increased comfort
- Reduced exam times
- Less need for rescanning due to patient movement
The Discovery MR750's powerful 3.0T magnet delivers strong whole-body gradients, resulting in fast and highly accurate reproducible scans in high definition, providing physicians the ability to see smaller structures. This powerful technology, coupled with enhanced imaging techniques, helps physicians to make a more confident diagnosis for their patients.
These technological developments, along with a comprehensive application suite designed for specific clinical areas, ensure the Discovery MR750 delivers outstanding images in body, breast, musculoskeletal, neurological, vascular, cardiac and pediatric imaging.
While MRI offers general improvements over traditional imaging techniques, such as X-rays, Sergio Pineiro, DO, Chief Radiologist at Florida Hospital DeLand, notes that not every MRI is alike - and the Discovery MR750 MRI provides clear advantages to Victoria Medical Park Imaging patients and doctors.
"The Discovery MR750 will help simplify exams while improving diagnostic quality," Pineiro said. "The addition of this powerful new imaging tool is part of our ongoing effort to use the very best technology available, making critical imaging processes as confident and comfortable as possible for our patients at the Victoria Park facility."
MRI procedures are covered by most insurance plans but often require pre-authorization.
Important Information Regarding Your Procedure
If your insurance company requires a referral or authorization number for diagnostic testing, you MUST have the referral or authorization number with you at the time of your exam. If you arrive for your exam without this information, we will attempt to get the referral/authorization number from your physician's office or insurance company, but please realize that your exam may have to be rescheduled. Thank you for your cooperation.
How I Do Prepare?
Please arrive 20 to 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to allow time to fill out the necessary forms. It is important that you bring any previous films relating to your exam so that our doctors can properly evaluate your results. For your convenience, we have Spanish speaking employees.
MRCP (Magnetic Resonance CholangioPancreatography)
No prep required.
**ALL MEDICATIONS MAY BE TAKEN**
If you have questions about these preparations, please contact the Victoria Imaging Center at 386-740-4020.
